Nicolle replies Feb 2014

Out of the three letters that I got, 2 were from Kulsum and one from my sweet Nicolle. As always she writes sweet letters and also answers all my questions. So here is the latest letter from her.

I will be in sixth grade. And my next vacations period will be until April 2014. I spent a very good birthday along with my family and some friends. Nicolle's update including new photo :) 2013

I am in a mood for updating profile details of my kids. So it's my sweet Nicolle this time. She celebrated her birthday last September and turned 11. So here are the details. 

She has grown to 4'6" (3 inches from last time) and weighs 72 pounds. That is a good growth for a 11 year old. Her fav. subject is still Grammer and her fav. pass times are playing soccer and playing with toys and cars. Her hobby is drawing/painting, and she does use bold and lovely colors in her drawings. I love those. She does sweep, mop and do some general chores in the house. 
Her monthly income still stays at $316. I believe it is still good, compared to Yulissa's where it had gone down. Given that she is just living with her mom, as her dad had abandoned the family, I am happy they are able to earn at least this much. I know being a single parent is tough and to raise 3 kids is no easy task. I wish I can help them more. Her living conditions are pretty much same as last time. 2 bedrooms, living room and kitchen. She sleeps in bed and all basic amenities are available at home. So overall, it is good. I plan to meet her too this year... Can't wait.. :)

Nicolle's latest letter Oct 2013

A good day again as I got a bunch of letters. I am also playing catch up with other letters... The first one is from Nicolle... She is such a sweetheart as always. This letter was actually written before her b'day SNG I believe. So here goes... 
"Greetings Dear Mani
I wish that when you get this letter, you are in good health. I am very happy that you like my letters and my drawings, that I did with so much affection. I tell you that my mother and my siblings, we are doing well thanks God. I will spend a happy birthday along with my family and friends. I am very happy that you sent me a photo along with your friends and that you visit your family to India, because that makes you happy. When you visit them, give my greetings to them, because I keep you in my heart too.

And another good part of the letter (apart from the actual letter itself :)) is that her drawings are back. I missed her drawing in the birthday SNG reply... As always, I lover her use of dark and bold colors... See for yourself :)...

Nicolle's SNG and Birthday reply - Sep 2013

A mixed day today... While I am super happy as I finally got Nicolle's SNG and b'day gifts reply, I also figured out that Yulissa did not get any gifts on her birthday because of a mixup :(. I have sent her a belated gift now. Hopefully I will get an update soon... 
Now for the happy part again... Nicolle sent another sweet letter as always. Also to note, I did not get any reply to the letter I sent. I either got this faster because I sent an SNG or this might be treated as a reply to my letter as well, I am not sure... Anyways, to the SNG reply and the sweet letter

Nicolle's latest letter - July 2013

I finally got Nicolle's latest letter along with Yulissa's and Maria's. Such a sweet kid with yet another super cool letter.She also had a cool coloring... It has been a while and I missed seeing those bold colors :).. So here is the letter and the drawing -

I hope you are in good health along with your loved ones. After this brief greeting I pass to the following. First I want to give thanks to God for placing you in my way, I love to go out in the recess and go out with my friends to enjoy. Nicolle's Special Needs request report from Honduras

I sent a SNG request for both Nicolle and Yulissa together and I was not surprised to get the replies together. Here is what the report said - 
"Regarding the sponsor's inquiry, the SOA is reporting that Ailing and her family ive in a rented house (as stated in the FR), reason why, it is not feasible to make any home repairs or improvements in this place and the agency wouldn't recommend it anyways. However, the child and her family have other special needs which could be covered by the sponsor. Please refer to the list detailed below.
1 Full bed (for Ailing
1 Refrigerator 8 feet
1 Fan
1 Food basket

Total: $550.01

The child is currently sharing a bed with another family member so, she would have a good rest having her own bed. Also they need a fan since the weather is warming up due to summer time and the family doesn't have a refrigerator to preserve their food so, this could be really useful for them in order to improve their living conditions."
That is close to what I estimated. A total of close to $1900 when you combine Nicolle and Yulissa's request. I believe I will be able to send out for Nicolle sooner than Yulissa though...

Nicolle's Letter - First of 2013 :)

It's that time again.. After a very very very long and patient wait (:P), I got a bunch of letters. And one of it being from my sweet Nicolle. So, without further a do, the sweet letter from her - 
"Greetings Dear Mr.Mani,
I wish that when you receive this letter you are in good health and along with your family. I am very happy to receive a correspondence and that makes me very happy. I tell you that I am going to fifth grade and I am spending happy vacations with my siblings, I am glad that your friend is getting married because that makes me happy and that you and your friends have affection for me. As always, there was also a sweet drawing on the back. I guess it was written before Christmas. She drew a beautiful house with the words 'Feliz Navidad' on the roof :). As always, you can see her bright use of colors...

Nicolle's Birthday SNG and reply :)

I know this is late again. I promise to be more punctual from next year :) But I got this beautiful SNG reply from my sweet Nicolle... As always, her mails are very personal and she answers all my questions. It is such a pleasure to write to her. I had sent her a B'day SNG and I actually got the reply much sooner... Within a week of her b'day in fact. It just took time for me to update it finally... Here is the reply from the SNG..
 
Child/Family Comments when gifts were received -The family was very happy because they were not expecting this special gift for Ailing, actually the child is taking it as a wonderful b'day gift and she loves storing her clothes in this nice place. Of course the best part of any SNG is the sweet reply and the photos I get with it :) So here are the photos with a super sweet mail...

Well, if you thought that was the end of it, I also got a sweet reply for my previous mail too. Funny I got them together... Of course this came with her sweet colorful drawings as usual.. Without further a do... Another super sweet mail from Nicolle...

As you can see from both the letters, she always writes about me visiting her country. That is something I am hoping to do too... Hopefully in the next year, I will be able to visit Honduras (just to meet her)... She is really a very smart and matured kid for her age and I wish she gets everything she needs in her life...

Nicolle's updated record... 2012

I was in for a surprise when I logged into CI account... Nicolle's new photo was up and also her family record was updated. It was actually updated loooooooong ago(in Feb).. I just missed it coz I look at the family report only when the photo changes. My bad... But of course it was good news... She has become even more charming as you can see from the photo :)... She has grown another inch (in only 5 months) to 4"3' and gained 6 pounds to 60 now. I am very happy with her progress. Her pass times and hobbies haven't changed in the last two years but her favorite subject has changed to Grammer from art... And one awesome thing is that her family income has increased from 286 to 316 now. I am not sure how much of an increase it is in two years, but still, if it is an increase, it is good... :) So waiting for her b'say photos still :)

Happy B'day to my Dear Nicolle :)

It's birthday week for me.. Last week it was Yulissa and today it is my another dear kid, Nicolle's birthday... She is also turning ten today and also writes the cutest of letters... I am very much impressed by her choice of colors in her drawings. Her letters are a delight to look forward too... As always, the SNG is already sent and I will be waiting for the pics... The good part is, since both birthdays are so close by, I will get two super cool mails from CI in quick succession.. I am sure it is worth the wait... 
I wish Nicolle, a very vey happy birthday.. She again as Yulissa, shares her birthday with a very good friend of mine... I wish she gets everything she wants and I hope to meet her in the next year... Pray for me to make it happen :)

Just after getting a super sweet letter from Yulissa, I got another one from CI. This time from my darling Nicolle... She also writes equally super cool letters and answers all my questions. It is always personal with her too. So here goes -

I tell you that I am doing good in school and that last week we had the exams and the hardest exam was social studies and the easiest was math, also in the school we celebrated mother's day. It is such a sweet letter and it made my day reading it. I will surely visit her soon. Probably this year end or at the max by mid next year... I so wanna meet her too :) And she sent this sweet drawing too. I always love her coloring. I kinda look forward to it in her letters these days. She uses as many colors as possible in all her drawings. They are always really bright or dark... I really hope I get to meet her in person. There was one more photo where she was with her mom. And I really hope I can keep Nicolle smiling forever... She has got an amazing smile too, just like my Suman :)

Nicolle's latest letter

I am totally glad to share that I have got yet another mail from my sweet Nicolle... I am finally in sync with my liftone account. I got this letter only last week. I was super excited as usual. Also I was very surprised about it because it was a reply to one of the mails I just sent a month ago. Considering CI's normal timeline this was super fast. Looks like Christmas came early for me :)... Again there was a question on the other side of the letter for which she selected all the options as always. Either she is very interested and enthusiastic or she just likes to put a tick mark in boxes :) Also a diagram was there on that side. As always I am surprised/happy to see her bold use of colors. I think she makes sure she uses as many different colors as possible :)

I really really liked this letter for the simple reason that it was a direct reply. I did send a very short mail only and all my questions were directly answered. These kinda letters really make my day. And also that she is one of my super fav kids :)

Nicole's SNG reply

Nicole's birthday went by in September. While I got a nice SNG reply from her, thanks to my friend Macky, I got another letter in response to a cute package of gifts prepared by Mack. A big thanks to her! Of course I got it a while back. Still adding posts to sync with my LiftOne account. So here is the sweet letter -

Isn't that just adorable? To me it is :). Really, Mack sure knows what to get for the kids. I was very happy to know Nicolle liked everything. I am a total zero in selecting gifts and without her help, I wouldn't have got this beautiful letter. And I realized that her recently updated profile pic was also from the same time. She was wearing the same green tee and a great smile too :)

Nicolle's record updated (A new photo)

This is still one of those catch up posts. I should have done this at least a month back. Well, it is never too late :)

As you all know, Nicolle's birthday crossed by almost two months ago, a surprise was waiting for me in my CI account. When I was checking for updates, voila... I found a new pic. She was all smiles in that pic. A sincere thanks to Mack who took time to make a package for my sweet Nicolle when she went to Honduras. I totally owe her for this super smiling pic from Nicolle as I know this is from on of those SNG photos. Also her family record was updates. As such there wasn't that great a change.Her height and weight had changed though. She was initially 4" and now risen to 4"2'. She also gained 4 pounds jumping to 54 which is a very encouraging sign... Love her smile :)

Nicolle B'day response :)

The good things just keep coming :). Got Nicolle's b'day response too. Got it a coupla days back actually. Missed updating it. So here is her beautiful letter with the wonderful drawing (colorful yet again) she sent...

Her drawing was as usual very very colorful and again she selected all the options for the question in the front page. She either selects just like that or she is very enthusiastic about a lot of activities. And the question asked was "What I like the most from the program is:"

Happy Birthday Nicole

Yet another weekend, yet another birthday ... Well last week it was Yulissa, and this week it is my sweet Nicole... Happy birthday to my sweet Nicole :)

She was the kid I took less than 10 seconds to decide to sponsor... She is such a sweet kid.. I have finally got the welcome letter from her... I will be updating that shortly... 

Here is to wishing a super cool happy birthday to her :) Now to wait for her b'day photos too :)

Welcoming Ailing Nicolle

Here I am yet again adding one more kid to the group. I really thought 2 was best and then came Sunandita. And then came Kulsum, but that was for my friend. And now I have the 5th one. And I think I will stick with these 5 for some time to come. Now lets shift the focus to my beautiful Nicolle. I was browsing thru the CI pages and just looking at the kids. I was in a bad mood, but when I saw this photo I found myself stragely smiling. I clicked on her page and it took less than 10 seconds for me to hit the sponsor button. At that time I did not see the whole details. I just saw she was Honduras (A new place to add) and she lived with her mother. Of course I am guilty of selecting a kid just from her photo, but it did give me a sense of satisfaction :) A look at the sweet smile and you will know why...

So this is Ailing Nicolle. I have not heard of the first name Ailing before... Of course I didn't even think about the name when I clicked on the sponsor button :). She is from Honduras and from the San Pedro Sula project. I had seen that name a few times in the message boards now... She is 8 yrs old. She is 4 ft tall and weighs at about 50 pounds. I am never good at judging what is the right height and weight for a kid. The good thing is that she is still attending school. Her favorite pastimes are playing soccer, playing hide and seek and playing with toys and cars. She seems to be one energetic girl with a wide range of interests. She likes to dance, draw and paint and no so coincidently , her favorite subject is art...

Very similar to Yulissa, her monthly income is better than my other kids at 289$. Of course it is a different country and it might most definitely be less. But she is the best of the lot from the kids I sponsor. She has one brother Erik, aged 4 and she lives with her mother. Her father has apparently abandoned the family (that is what the report says). Her living conditions also are a touch better than my other kids. There are two bedrooms, a living room and a kitchen. The walls and the floors are concrete and the roof is of corrugated metal. The cook out of a gas stove. The report says they have beds but it does not say on how many. I am hoping she is sleeping her own bed. They have running water in home. The electricity is regulated and they have a septic tank in place. I suppose it is a good thing... I am hoping I can make an impact on one more kid's life by doing what I can.
